THE YIN AND THE YANG
Everything on this Planet has a yin and a yang, or a light and a dark, day or night. This planet is a place of duality or contradictory opposites, the opposites compliment each other forming a whole.
The dark is there to serve the purpose of the light and the light is there to serve the dark. They are interdependent on each other. The definition of the light depends on the definition of the dark to be complete.
The nature of yin and yang flows into each other, nothing is completely yin or yang. As the night passes into day there is an in-between time that is neither day nor night as the night flows into the day and the day flows into the night.
As humans we are energy beings and we have both yin and yang in us, we have both masculine energies and feminine energies in us. The energies form a complete whole being. But there are variations in the energies for each human, no one is perfectly masculine or feminine , they are in various percentages. When one energy aspect increases the other energy aspect decreases to maintain the balance of the whole.
We also comprise of the yin and yang aspects of our dark and light sides. It is very important to acknowledge this. The dark and light energies in us are complimenting each other. They are neither good nor bad. Our mind stories may categorize them as good or bad. But the dark side is a self protection for the light side and the light side is a healer of the dark side. The dark side is our primitive side that contains our fear, anger, jealousy, greed , selfishness and so on.
Many of us do not want to see our dark side, we go to great lengths to protect our self image, we want to project our self-righteous attitude to others. So we decline to acknowledge our dark side.
It is easy for us to be very judgmental and point out the dark side of others when we do not acknowledge the dark side in us. Acceptance of the dark side in us is the journey towards enlightenment and unconditional love.
I have noticed people from different fields, spiritual teachers, educationist, scientists, religious leaders, politicians, counselors, parents, so many in my life time..., they showed gifts in one area of their life but remained unaware of their poor behavior in other areas of life.
Every human being is susceptible to this unawareness. Acknowledging and working with our dark side is a most challenging but rewarding experience. It helps us to live in authenticity, it is a path to an awakened life. It is important to work on this aspect of ourselves sooner, otherwise we end up living irresponsibly without maturity.
Being compassionate and non-judgmental and embracing both our light and dark play of energies and making peace is the greater healing for ourselves and for our Planet.
Blessings!
