HAPPY PONGAL! BLESSINGS OF ABUNDANCE!

HAPPY PONGAL!
Today is a grand day of the winter harvest festival in India. In my place of birth Tamil Nadu it is celebrated as Pongal. In Tamil, the word Pongal means "overflowing" which signifies abundance and prosperity. On the day of Pongal, at the time of sun rise there is a symbolic ritual of boiling fresh milk with freshly harvested rice in a new clay pot and when it boils over and bubbles out of the vessel, people shout "Pongalo Pongal!" which means "may this earth and the life of all beings be filled with abundance and well being in every aspect!"
Pongal is mainly celebrated to convey the appreciation and thankfulness to the Sun God as it act as the primary energy behind the life of all beings, from plants to animals to the tiny single celled beings all depend on the sun for their growth and well being.
This harvest festival is called by different names in different parts of India due to the different languages in every state, they are Makar Sankranti, Bihu, Lohri, Uttarayana, and Pongal.
PONGALO PONGAL to you all my dear friends! May your moments be filled with abundant well being and joy!
Blessings!
