YOU ARE THE SACRED WITNESS TO LIFE
The only way to awareness is to be with the things of the present moment as a witness. Join the breeze, the voices of the children, be with the grass and the flowers, feel the chair that you are sitting on, or be with the dishes you are washing right now. Everything you do with awareness is ultimate success as it is perfect and you have lived that moment fully.
Practice to be present for just this moment – just be deeply present. This awareness of the present moment creates the space of silence and of stillness. Stillness is the key where life reveals its wisdom and truth. The Spiritual teacher, Eckhart Tolle, states that the entire wisdom of religion can truly be summed up in these few words:
“Be still and know I AM God.”
Only in awareness and only when there is stillness, can true wisdom be revealed. When this moment of life is honored with mindfulness, the next moment automatically falls into place.
Awareness of the present moment brings oneness and connection with our eternal goodness as the illusions of our mind stories dissolve. The mind loves the ego stories and will never come to the present moment as the experience of awareness can never be understood from the mind. It is an experience to know the sacred witness of life. The sacred witness is the knower of all knowledge, ignorance, and wisdom. The sacred witness is the formless, non-judgmental self – our inner being. Awareness reveals the truth that all journeying and seeking of life is to recognize that the destination is WE-ourselves. The Hopi Elder’s Prophecy, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” is a powerful reminder of this truth.
All stories of our past are not who we are. The mind loves this game of gathering information and clinging to identity and this becomes the heavy baggage that hinders our journey. When you come to the present moment, you understand that being in the present moment is a sacred witness expressing itself as a human being.
Noticing the sacred witness is the most powerful part of the journey of life. The journey of life when viewed from the sacred witness, allows understanding and comprehension of the stories of the mind and helps to make peace with them.
This world is our mirror, and the mirror reveals to us who we are in our story. Viewing our story from awareness and bringing in the energy of love, acceptance and compassion, we make peace with the story. We need not try to let go of the story; the story automatically lets go of us.
From the time the mind was born with the body, the mind took its job of safeguarding the body very seriously. Hence, it became a collector of every data from the outside, constantly alert, and constantly pessimistic. Its job is to scare us so that we do not go beyond its boundary. The mind knows only what it knows; it does not know anything beyond the data it collects.
Awareness is the simplest and most profound tool that reveals the truth that we are not our mind. Awareness differentiates us the as the watcher of our mind. We realize that we are much more than our mind; we are the magnificent miracle of life.
Just for fun while watching a movie or television, witness yourself watching, and notice the difference. The moment you witness yourself, you will not be involved in the drama happening in the television or the movie. You will SEE the drama only, and be amused as you will never get involved in it.
This is the way with awareness. It is the art of being a witness of the world around you every moment. You are a sacred witness as you see everything, but you do not identify yourself with anything that goes on around you.
Being the sacred witness is the most powerful place to be. From this place, we can see the beauty of creation, and we can see the drama chosen by each and every soul without judgment. From this place, we make peace with our stories by seeing them from a higher perspective. From this place, we understand that this world is a projection of our thinking, and we understand the world in a much better light. There is immense peace through this understanding, and we come to love the world and ourselves. After making peace with the story, we settle into our Divine Presence and emerge as a new being without limitation, without fear, and without concern about what others think. We become our authentic selves, and we create ourselves anew every moment. We reemerge as the sacred witness to life.
